Delafield Hotel Wedding

Jenny and Michael’s August Delafield Hotel wedding highlighted their favorite shared interest – FOOD! Jenny and Michael are total foodies. I’ve never had a bride ask me to take photos of them eating – but these were some of the most important photos for Jenny. I knew going into this wedding day that we were all in store for some great food and I definitely wasn’t disappointed!

Their Love Story

Jenny and Michael met through a mutual love of ultimate frisbee. After carpooling to frisbee events their friendship started to blossom into something more. They both bond over how much they love making and eating food together! Jenny even runs an instagram page solely dedicated to food!

Naturally, Michael utilized food to propose to Jenny. He combined 5 aspects of her favorite desserts for an amazing proposal dessert. Jenny poured hot ginger caramel sauce over a white chocolate dome which melted to reveal a ginger lemon cake with strawberry mouse and whipped cream. Oh yeah – And an engagement ring!! Thankfully Jenny didn’t eat the ring!

Their Delafield Hotel Wedding Day

Jenny and Michael chose their wedding venue specifically based on the food. If you’ve never been to I.d. at the Delafield Hotel, you have to check it out! They also handle the catering for events and the food was delicious! I usually don’t get requests from brides to take photos of them while they’re eating – but this was very important for Jenny and Michael! All of the food was super yummy!

As a Chinese-American, Jenny wanted to incorporate some Chinese traditions into the day. They did this through some of the decor. They also had family that wasn’t able to join from China and they were on Facetime almost the entire time. It was great to see how involved everyone was even from afar!

We took their portraits in a nearby park and it was a very hot summer day. Right as we finished up their portraits it started pouring! It was actually perfect timing because we had just gotten to the car when the sky opened up. Phew! During the reception we got to go on the rooftop of the Delafield Hotel for a few more photos and were treated to the most amazing sunset!

One thing I loved about this wedding was seeing so many familiar faces! There were 3 Nicole Miro Couples present at the wedding! We made sure to capture this image to commemorate the fun moments we’ve all shared!

My Favorite Moment

My favorite moment of their day was definitely their first dances! They choreographed a few moves for their first dance and it was so upbeat and fun! I also loved their first dances with their parents which featured some more choreography and lots of smiles! I was very impressed! Naturally the rest of the night the dance floor was packed! I loved seeing Jenny really break it down on the dancefloor!

A Note to Jenny and Michael

Jenny and Michael – thank you so much for letting me join you on your wedding day! My heart (and stomach) was so full leaving at the end of the night. Your families were so much fun (Jenny, your dad almost made me cry from laughter during cocktail hour) and I LOVED getting to experience a few small-world moments with your family and friends from Boise, Michael. I hope you had the most amazing honeymoon on your Southern food tour and I’m so grateful for your generosity you’ve shown me over the past couple of years. I hope our paths cross after I move to Boise! Let’s definitely make some Christmas cookies together!
