Summer Veteran’s Terrace Wedding

Kortney and Michael’s wedding at Veteran’s Terrace in Burlington, Wisconsin is LONG overdue! Not only have these two been together for more than a decade already, but the pandemic further delayed their wedding another year. We were all SO glad to have gotten to finally celebrate their marriage!

Their Story

Kortney told me that she and Michael have always done things backwards. Most people get married and then have kids but these two started their family together 10 years ago and finally decided to make things official by getting married. More about their love story here.

Their Veteran’s Terrace Wedding Day

One of the themes throughout their wedding day was the importance of family. And that started right when they decided on their venue. Kortney and Michael chose Veteran’s Terrace because Kortney’s late grandfather was a Veteran. They wanted to honor his memory and the entire day was special from start to finish. Kortney paid tribute to her late father and grandparents by reserving them a seat in the front row during the ceremony and also had pictures of them attached to her bouquet.

Their tiffany blue (Kortney’s favorite color) and gray color scheme worked perfectly with touches of silver sparkles throughout. My favorite detail was Kortney’s cathedral length veil which was an impressive 110 inches long! It was absolutely stunning as she walked down the aisle!

The weather forecast was iffy leading up to the wedding, but the morning of the forecast looked promising. The rain would hold off until the late evening so they could still hold their ceremony outside on the gorgeous terrace. Towards the end of the ceremony, a loud rumble of thunder shook through the sky. They barely finished processing back down the aisle at the end of the ceremony when the sky opened up and it started pouring! It was truly perfect timing!

The reception was full of fun and even a few pranks! Michael Rick-rolled his mom for the mother-son dance. At one point the groomsmen left and changed into some ‘Merica themed outfits which surprised everyone – including Kortney and Michael!

My Favorite Moment

Kortney and Michael have two children together – during the ceremony they included them during the pouring of sand and gifted them each a necklace with a sweet saying on it. I love how they included their children throughout the day and made it all about their family.
