Winter Filament Wedding

There is something so magical about a winter wedding day. Alison and Keith’s winter Filament wedding day was no exception! Their candlelit ceremony and reception created a warm and cozy ambience for their guests. I am so excited to share more about their day!

Their Winter Filament Wedding Day

Alison and Keith each started the day by getting ready in separate downtown Milwaukee Airbnb’s. Alison and her bridesmaids were decked out in matching sweatpants. I always start each wedding day by photographing details and one of my favorite details from their day was their wedding favors. Both Alison’s parents and Keith’s parents had matchboxes as their wedding day favors. Alison and Keith decided to honor them by doing the same – they even managed to get a hold of a set of their parents favors! I love the photo of all three match boxes next to each other.

It was fun to see Alison and Keith make the rest of their wedding day their own. Their ceremony included a portion where they potted a tree with soil from both of their parents’ homes. They had a taco bar with churros for dessert. Rather than cutting a cake, they had a cheesecake instead! There was a photo booth set up in a cozy corner of the venue and they asked guests to put photos in their guestbook with a note.

Alison had a few surprises of her own up her sleeve! She found a gorgeous emerald coat which really elevated the winter look of their portraits. She even had a surprise outfit change for the reception! The feather-lined jumpsuit was so much fun and so her!

We ended the night with some portraits by the Milwaukee river with the skyline in the background.

My Favorite Moment

Alison and Keith decided to have a first look and share personal vows together. This was my favorite moment of the day because it was really beautiful to witness them both get emotional seeing each other for the first time and sharing some heartfelt words with each other. Moments like this make me wish that every couple does a first look on their wedding day. It’s one of the few private moments on your day!

A Note to Alison and Keith

I have never met a couple that radiates so much joy as much as you two. Alison’s smile and positive attitude is infectious while Keith’s kind heart can warm up any room. It has been a pleasure to get to know you both over the past year and I’m so grateful to have gotten to celebrate such an important milestone in your relationship with you. Thank you for having me as your wedding photographer!
