Catherine and Zackery’s summer Vintage Rose wedding day was the epitome of themselves. They stuck to tradition where they wanted to, and everything else they threw out the window and did their own thing! I loved seeing how comfortable they are with each other and I’m so glad they made sure their wedding was the perfect day for them!
Catherine and Zackery met through mutual friends. Their relationship started out as friends – they would go to the grocery store and do everyday things together. At some point Zackery tried Catherine’s cooking and that’s when they decided they needed to start officially dating.
Zackery proposed on the weekend of their 4 year anniversary. They booked a little weekend getaway and wanted to have a picnic together. They picked up sandwiches and were on their way! Zackery hid the ring in the picnic basket and the rest is history!
Their wedding day took place on an unseasonably hot day in May. After finishing some final preparations at the venue, Catherine and Zackery got ready for one of the best days of their lives! These two did a first look and I loved the reactions they had to seeing each other for the first time and sharing a private moment together.
Their ceremony was outdoors surrounded by the beautiful greenery of the Vintage Rose. Their wedding party decided to play a little prank on Catherine and Zackery to lighten the mood. During the opening prayer they all adorned silly glasses with a big nose and moustache. It took Catherine and Zackery a moment to notice but once they did, they couldn’t help but smile and laugh.
A unique thing these two did was a ribbon ceremony instead of a ring exchange – they’ve been wearing their wedding rings for awhile now and didn’t want to take them off! So instead they quite literally tied the knot with ribbon around their joined hands.
Moving on to the reception, these two had some of their best friends and family members give toasts that were incredibly sweet. Afterwards they played a few games including the shoe game and a whiteboard game where they both had to draw their answers to a prompt. After their first dance we snuck out for some golden hour portraits where we had the most dreamy light. Of course the picnic basket that Zackery used to propose had to make an appearance!
These two had a grand exit with bubbles! I love this as a really fun alternative to sparklers! Congratulations Catherine and Zackery!
My favorite moment from their day is actually a conglomeration of moments. I’ve never seen a couple be so intentional about making sure they spent some private time together on their wedding day. Immediately following the ceremony they took some time to themselves to enjoy being a newly married couple and they also shared a private dinner together.
Catherine and Zackery, I’m so grateful you trusted me with your special day! Thank you so much for having me (and baby) along for the day. It has been so special getting to know you two over the past year+ and I hope that we can continue to be friends! I have no doubt you two will continue to hold on to each other strongly when faced with whatever challenges life throws your way. Thank you for being such shining lights in this world!
