Katie and Dennis – Oak Rest Sunflower Farm Engagement

I had the pleasure of taking photos of Katie and Dennis when he got down on one knee last October. Check out my blog post about their proposal here. It was a blast to have these two in front of my camera again!

Katie and Dennis have known each other since they were little and after a shared St. Patrick’s day weekend they realized they had feelings for each other. Both of them were visiting a younger sibling at college, and when they ran into each other things just clicked. They dated long distance for awhile – Katie in Chicago and Dennis in Milwaukee. They spent most weekends splitting time between Milwaukee and Chicago. Finally Katie moved to Milwaukee so they could be in the same city.

Dennis planned a really sweet proposal. He proposed before a fancy dinner at the Harbor House. He had also arranged for all of their family to come in from the Cleveland area for the after party. Katie was so surprised when she walked into what she thought was an small party with friends and saw her parents and siblings waiting inside! They’ll be tying the knot next July in Cleveland, Ohio.

I could probably go on and on about Katie and Dennis. Not only are they gorgeous on the outside, but they have the kindest hearts. They’re also opening up their home to a new puppy in a few short weeks (follow @golden.hours.of.ollie on Instagram!). I have been swooning over their puppy and can’t wait to meet him when they bring him home! Also, if you’re wondering, Katie gets her hair done at Halo Salon on Brady Street – isn’t her hair stunning?

Sunflower fields only bloom for a couple weeks so you have to jump on the opportunity when it arises! Oak Rest Sunflower Farms in Burlington, Wisconsin was only open for a few weeks and they’re officially closed for the rest of 2019. Follow them on Facebook to get updates on when they’ll be open next season. The owners are so gracious and kind for opening up their farm to the public. It’s only $5/person and you can also purchase additional stems for $1/flower. It’s the perfect spot for a photo shoot, or just relaxing for an evening and picking up some fresh blooms. Bring bug spray if you go!

Katie and Dennis – thank you for letting me capture these for you! Here’s a few of my favorites from their sunflower session!
