I am always honored when another photographer asks me to capture their own special life moments. And I’ve been so blessed to have captured Rachel from Rachel Simmons Photography and her wonderful husband Curtis a couple times now (Check out their vow renewal here!). The last time I worked with them, they told me they were expecting! So we photographed a few cute baby announcement photos during their vow renewal as well. I was SO excited when Rachel reached out to me about her maternity photos as well.

These two have been through a lot. They have suffered loss in the past, so naturally they have been apprehensive about their pregnancy. I’ve prayed for them along the way too. So many people have been praying and cheering for this growing baby boy in her belly! This rainbow baby is SO LOVED already! And now he’s just about a month away from arriving! YAY! We all can’t wait to meet him!

We made our way to Retzer Nature Center in Waukesha for their session. I love this location because it has a wonderful variety of scenery. Parts of it are woodsy, other parts are wide open fields, and others have long grass. As we drove up, we encountered a few deer, munching away for dinner. Make sure you bring bug spray if you go – Rachel can tell you how many bugs tried to bite her! I may or may not have gotten a few funny blooper shots of her yelling at the bugs! And check yourself for ticks afterwards – my hubby came along for their session to go for a nice evening walk and came back with a tick on his sock!

Rachel and Curtis, thank you for allowing me to capture this special season of your lives. I’m truly blessed to have gotten to know you and I can’t wait to continue capturing your special moments moving forward! I am so excited to meet baby boy so soon!
